    Description

Original autographed note by Frédérick Lemaître, one of the most famous French actors of the 19th Century Boulevard du Crime (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fr%C3%A9d%C3%A9rick_Lema%C3%AEtre), along with an original contemporary caricature and article on
    Lemaître by French satirist
    Léon-Charles Bienvenu, AKA "Touchatout."
The note has not been formally authenticated by an autographs expert. However, I have reached out to the Harvard Haughton Library and compared the signature and note with multiple
Lemaître autographed notes in their collection, and the note/signature appears to be very much authentic. From a rough translation of the actor's scrawl, it appears the note is a request to theater management for seats for the actor's friends or family. The item came from the estate of a French theater enthusiast/scholar.
The caricature/article has heavy foxing around the edges, but is otherwise in quite good condition. Text is bright and clearly legible.
Mounting is old and needs to be replaced, but the matting seems to be high quality. Comes with frame, as well as a print out of the article.
