This is a fantastic 1983 vintage Merrythought teddy bear that came from our Moms private collection. It stands 18 inches tall with jointed arms, legs, and head.He has arms that are extra long, in the antique style of teddy bears. The light amber eyes, embroidered brown nose, felt paw pads with stitched pads and shaved pointed snout are all in excellent shape. A green ribbon is tied in a bowtie around his neck. This bear has the most appealing expression!
The original yellow cloth tag on the bottom of the right foot reads “Merrythought, Ironbridge Shrops, Made in England”. The "Pure Guaranteed Made From Pure Mohair By MERRYTHOUGHT Made in England" paper tag is attached to his chest. In addition, a white cloth tag with cleaning instructions is attached to the left side of his body. This bear is completely authentic and comes in the original sealed plastic Merrythought wishbone bag which has an orange tag that says "HE18 ONLY BEAR".
This teddy bear has a growler that works, it is long and LOUD!
This Edwardian teddy bear is made of the finest quality materials and to the most exacting of British workmanship! Merrythought is now the only remaining British teddy bear manufacturer - their production is now on a small scale and is focused on the handmade collectors pieces. They became one of the Finest English Teddy Bear Manufacturers since they began making teddy bears in 1930.
A Merrythought is another name for a Good Luck Wish Bone. Merrythought bears are sought after for their fine quality. Merrythought bears are the bears with the secret smile, they have a gentle loving expression and a sweet perky face. Be charmed by a Merrythought!
